Symptoms Of The Saved

One of the uppermost symptoms of the saved should be a concern for the eternal souls of others. A saved person will understand what he has been saved from. He will understand the weight of words like eternal and everlasting. He ought to have a greater concern for the eternal souls of others than for his own temporary problems and sacrifices.

Matthew 25:46: And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.

Both words mean perpetual (also used of past time, or past and future as well), eternal, for ever, everlasting, world (began).

Hebrews 7:14: For it is evident that our Lord sprang out of Juda; of which tribe Moses spake nothing concerning priesthood. 15 And it is yet far more evident: for that after the similitude of Melchisedec there ariseth another priest, 16 Who is made, not after the law of a carnal commandment, but after the power of an endless life. 17 For he testifieth, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.

Revelation 20:10: And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever. 14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. 15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. 21:8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

A believer will also understand the brevity of this life. Compared with forever, a hundred years of life on earth will be like a single grain of sand on a thousand-mile beach.

James 4:14: Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.

He will understand that more individuals on earth will ignorantly and willfully choose the Lake of Fire over Heaven. He will understand that most of the individuals he comes in contact with are drowning in a sea of sin.

Matthew 7:13: Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: 14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

He will understand that his Jesus is the only hope for lost sinners.

John 14:6: Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Most importantly, he will care about the eternal souls of others. He will pray for them, he will want them to hear the gospel, He will ask the Lord to send workers into the harvest and he will want to share the gospel with them himself. He will understand the importance of their hearing the gospel NOW!

Matthew 9:38: Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.

John 4:35: Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.

You may not be able to do all of these things but there will never be an excuse for a saved person not to pray for the souls of men. If you don*t have a concern for the souls of others, ask the Lord to open your eyes to this greatest of all needs.
